Eagle alliance flag bearer Peter Kenneth on Sunday criticised the recent opinion polls that rated him below other presidential candidates.
Mr Kenneth said the pollsters were not objective in their sampling as they were relying on a smaller fraction of the population to conduct their study.
The Kenya National Congress (KNC) leader said he was optimistic of succeeding President Kibaki.
He promised to pull a surprise on those who believe in the opinion polls that have indicated that he is performing dismally.
“I don’t want to be the president of the pollsters. You, the voters, are the real pollsters and that is why I have come to ask you for your votes directly,” he said.
Mr Kenneth called on Kenyans to vote for him, saying his development record as the Gatanga MP and Planning assistant minister show that he can deliver if elected president.
He spoke during a campaign at the Mathare Youth Sports Ground in Huruma Estate.
The KNC leader pledged to improve security, health, roads and the economy in general. He also promised to set up more polytechnics for the youth.
His running mate, Mr Ronny Osumba, said they will bring in new leadership that will come up with meaningful change.
Mr Osumba told voters to shun violence irrespective of who will be voted as the next president.
“This time, our weapon is the vote we will cast on March 4. Let us not carry stones but let us ensure that we vote people who will bring development to this great nation in the next five years,” said Mr Osumba.
