The alliance had earlier last week written a letter to the organizers of the presidential debates indicating that the alliance would pull its candidates, one of the top contenders for the presidency, out of the second debate over what the alliance termed as unfairness and bias against Uhuru Kenyatta in the first debate. Jubilee protested that the moderators chose to focus mainly on the ICC issue and did not put to task any of the other candidates on the different scandals each has faced in the past. ““We would have expected that after the introduction of the so-called ‘elephant-in-the-room’ regarding Uhuru Kenyatta and the ICC; due focus would also have been given to equally sizable jumbos (hard questions) touching on other candidates, including the Triton, Maize and Kazi Kwa Vijana scandals involving Prime Minister Raila Odinga,” the letter read in part.”
The move to pull out of the debate had been criticized by many Kenyans including Jubilee supporters
