Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has established a National Election Centre in Nairobi, which will have media and tallying centres.
The commission’s CEO James Oswago said the tallying centre will have ten segments to handle results as they come.
“There will be a segment to deal with diaspora voters, while others will be for receiving presidential, county and constituencies provisional results,” he explained.
Four screen
IEBC chairman will be the Returning Officer for the National Tallying Centre and he will proclaim the presidential results.
The commission will also have four screens at the national centre and one each at the county and constituency levels to enable locals monitor results and create a gap between provisional and actual results.
Oswago also confirmed the commission has already received 500 tonnes ballot papers for presidential and senatorial positions and are now waiting for others.
“We have the ballot papers safely in our warehouse and we are good to go. We are now working on the final logistics on how to distribute the election materials and security,” he added.
Oswago confirmed that the remaining ballot papers will arrive in the country by Tuesday next week.

“I cannot disclose the actual figure but what I can confirm is that we are in contact and even know the exact time the plane carrying the materials will touch down in the country,” he said. The commission’s chairman also announced that they will soon publish names of nominated candidates for the March 4 polls on their website, local dailies and Kenya Gazette.
“We are also going to do the same for the party list. We delayed because some parties did not comply with requirements,” he added. The Standard
