Uhuru later through his spokesman Munyori Buku condemned the incident, urging Kenyans to be tolerant of others’ views even when they have divergent political views. He also called on leaders to avoid incitement language to maintain peaceful campaigns.
CORD National Coordinating Committee Chairman Franklin Bett also condemned the incident, calling it “the greatest height of indiscipline and a lack of respect by those involved,” adding that Mr Odinga, just like any other politician, has a right to campaign in any part of the country. He also urged CORD supporters across the country to welcome wither opponents warmly and accord them respect.
