Four suspects have been arrested in Rachuonyo South District in connection with the violence which occurred in Oyugis town during an ODM rally.
The youth were apprehended by the police and taken to Oyugis Police Station.
Rachuonyo South OCPD Naomi Ichami said the suspects would be arraigned in court to answer charges of perpetrating violence.
“We are going to take this matter very seriously to curb cases of political violence in this area before and after the next General Election. We want these suspects to serve as an example to others with similar intentions,” Ichami said.
She added that the arrest of the four would enhance their investigations to arrest more suspects in connection with the incident.
“I cannot tell the exact number of suspects but we are looking for more who were adversely mentioned in the violence,” she said.
The arrest came following a Tuesday incident in which three people were seriously injured and are admitted at Matata Hospital, Oyugis town.
The victims sustained serious cuts on their heads..
