Three people were killed in a pre-dawn helicopter crash in a rural area of northern Los Angeles County while filming for a new reality TV show for the Discovery Channel |
The cause of the crash is still being investigated. Meanwhile, details about the reality show are scarce, though it reportedly centered on the military, said Discovery Channel spokeswoman Laurie Goldberg.
The crash site—Polsa Rosa, located in Acton—is described as a “movie ranch” often used for filming, and the helicopter was scheduled for use from Saturday until Sunday morning.
Eyeworks USA, the production company behind NBC’s The Biggest Loser, was in the midst of shooting the show.
The Discovery Channel said in a statement: “A production company was shooting a show for Discovery Channel when this tragic accident occurred. We are all cooperating fully with authorities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families.”
The names of those aboard have not yet been released.
