Miguna Miguna Set to Release New Book in February

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s adviser Miguna Miguna is set to publish his second book critical of key presidential aspirants, a month to the next elections. Unlike his first book, which targeted Mr Odinga and the Grand Coalition Government, Mr Miguna has this time round targeted nine presidential hopefuls, including Mr Odinga.

The new book, Kidneys for the King: De-Forming the Status Quo in Kenya, is set to be released in February next year.

In a statement from Toronto, Canada, Mr Miguna said the 300-page book is a continuation of his salvos on reforms and anti-reform forces in Kenya, as detailed in his first memoirs, Peeling Back the Mask.

The former PM’s adviser on coalition matters said the book is an outcome of his experiences while in the corridors of power.

“Like Peeling Back the Mask, Kidneys for the King is based on personal observations, experiences, discussions and in-depth analysis of past and current socio-political situation in Kenya,” he said.

However, he did not indicate the firm that would publish the book.

Seeking to soil

Mr Miguna’s first book was received with anger and protests from ODM supporters, who accused the lawyer of seeking to soil Mr Odinga’s name.

The second book, he said, seeks to answer questions on who among the presidential aspirants is a reformer and who is a renegade.

“Is Raila Amolo Odinga a reformer or a renegade? How about Uhuru Kenyatta, William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi, Peter Kenneth, Martha Karua, Raphael Tuju, Eugene Wamalwa and James Ole Kiyiapi?” he poses.

He said the book would tackle questions on social reforms.
