Manchester United Fans Want Ferguson to Capture Kenyan Midfielder

Manchester United fans want Sir Alex Ferguson toprioritise signing of Harambee Stars and Celtic midfield ace Victor Mugubi Wanyama according to a Bleacher Report poll.
The precocious talent from Kenya has exceeded expectation since making a £900,000 switch from Belgian side Germinal Beerschot to Glasgow giants, Celtic.
And with Manchester United midfield generals Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs ageing, leaving the Old Trafford centre creaking, Red Devils faithful want Wanyama to steady the 19-time English champions.
Out of 2,616 respondents in the Bleacher Report poll, 51.1per cent want Wanyama as a matter of urgency ahead of another Manchester United target Colombian James Rodriguez (29.3%).
Argentina’s Ezequiel Garay (4.5%) and Moroccos’s Adel Taarabt 5.4% are the others the Red Devil fans want the Scottish gaffer to sign.
The fans’ desire to see the Celtic midfield enforcer is not unjustified what with the lack of steel once provided by the likes of Scholes and Roy Keane.
Ferguson, who has a knack for rebuilding competitive sides generation after generation is keen to build one such dynasty before calling it quits after an illustrious Old Trafford career spanning 26 years.
Some of the supposed stars of tomorrow already at United, it would appear, include Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck, Shinji Kagawa, Nick Powell, Alexander Büttner, Rafael, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.
The addition of Wanyama will be a welcome boost.
But in his characteristic manner of conducting his transfer business, Ferguson has quashed any approach of the star, who has been valued at £25 million (Sh3.4b) by coach Neil Lennon.
The Mail on Sunday recently reported that Sir Alex would not be getting caught up in the January transfer whirlwind. "I will not be bringing anybody in, in January, definitely not,” he said.
But with Wanyama, 21, attracting rave reviews due to his versatility and is already one of the Scottish Premier League’s most promising talents; Ferguson might be tempted to test Celtic’s resolve.
Right now, one could certainly argue that the positions in which Manchester Unitedare lacking most is in central midfield, with a focus on the defensive side of things, as well as at centre-back.
According to the Telegraph, it remains uncertain as to whether or not Rio Ferdinand will put pen to paper over a Red Devils extension and the defender would require a considerable replacement should he decide to leave in 2013.
Unlike a lot of young talents in modern football, Wanyama has a massive versatility about him and has shown on numerous occasions that he is more than capable of playing as a centre-back should he need to.
Neil Lennon has used the Kenyan international in defence, as a deep-lying playmaker and also further ahead during his tenure with the Bhoys, showing that he is at least malleable, if nothing else. - The Standard
