MP Joshua Kuttuny and his Naivasha counterpart John Mututho have asked the Chairman of National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) chairman Mzalendo Kibunjia to probe Prime Minister Raila Odinga over hate speech remarks he made in Eldoret town last week.
The lawmakers said he had obtained recordings of the meeting and some of the speeches contained what amounted to hate speech and incitement.
“What they were talking about is not politics,” Kuttuny said.
“We wonder why NCIC has not summoned some of the people who directed abuses at some individuals and tribes,” Kuttuny added.
The two MPs’ statement were echoed by The National Alliance (TNA) officials in Eldoret led by Rose Kisama who condemned speeches at the meeting, saying the utterances made were aimed at inciting people against one community.
“The region suffered a lot during the 2007/08 post election violence and people should not be allowed to use the kind of language that was used at the meeting attended by the PM,” Kisama said.
