Former makadara MP Dick Wathika has claimed his life is in danger after he announced he will be vying for the Mukurweini parliamentary seat.
Wathika, who is competing with former Communication Minister Mutahi Kagwe, said he has been receiving death threats from the former Minister.
He accused the provincial administration of colluding with the former Minister in gagging out some parliamentary candidates.
He said that he had received an short message on his phone stating ‘Ujichunge sana’ which loosely translates to (be careful).
Wathika said for the last couple of months police have been storming his campaign meetings.
This he said has caused fear and panic among his supporters.
The former Assistant Minister is now calling on the provincial administration and police to allow him conduct his campaign peacefully without intimidation.
“We want police to offer us enough security. The threats will not weaken or intimidate us,” Wathika said.
