Two Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)Ministers have said it would be difficult to convince Rift Valley voters to endorse Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta as the their Presidential flag bearer in the forthcoming general election.
In a press conference on Saturday in a Nairobi hotel, Roads Minister Franklin Bett and his East African Community counterpart Musa Sirma said the proponents of the alliance between Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto would face stiff opposition in marketing the pair in the region.
“Ruto should consider taking up an offer of a running mate from Prime Minister Raila Odinga as ODM/URP deal would be easier to campaign for not only in Western region but also the entire country,” Bett said.
The Ministers also said an alliance of Ruto and Raila Odinga would ensure the presidency is delivered on first round.
“The presidency was stolen from ODM and we are keen on ensuring this time we have a clear winning formula,” Sirma said.
They also expressed confidence that Prime Minister Raila Odinga will emerge victorious in next year’s general election.
