Six police officers are expected in court this morning over the killing of a driver in Kiambu County.
They allegedly shot dead the motorist in Ruaka last January in an incident in which a car believed to have been stolen was recovered.
The officers were arrested and detained at the Kileleshwa Police Station and will be arraigned in court today, police said.
They were arrested on Saturday after a file studied by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko recommended their prosecution. At the time of the shooting, all the police officers were based at Gigiri police station.

Some of the officers were arrested while on training at Kiganjo while others were told of the arrest from their places of work.
Those who have seen the file said some of their colleagues will also be charged with theft.
Nairobi area police boss Moses Ombati confirmed the arrests and said investigation was ongoing to establish the circumstances under which the officers shot the driver who was on his way home accompanied by friends.
“The officers are in custody for now and will appear in court probably today. The file was forwarded to the DPP who recommended their prosecution,” said Ombati.
The Force Standing Orders state that police have the right to use justified force while apprehending a suspect or trying to prevent a crime, and may use lethal or non-lethal means, depending on the circumstance.
Meanwhile, a woman and a man were last night shot and wounded in a chemist robbery in Nairobi’s Buruburu shopping centre.
stormed premises
The two were attacked by four gunmen who stormed the premises and demanded money and other valuables on Sunday night.
The gang later escaped without stealing anything.
Police say their hunt on the gunmen is yielding results.
A manhunt for the gunmen is ongoing and police say  they are making good progress.
