A strip club in Canada is now offering college tuition as an incentive to recruit more strippers.
How many times on TV have you heard a stripper saying she’s working to pay for her college tuition? The owners of Leopard’s Lounge and Broil in Windsor, Ontario are trying to recruit local dancers with promises of college tuition after the Canadian government stopped issuing visas to foreign strippers.
Locals are eligible for up to $1,700 in tuition at any of the universities in the Windsor area, including the University of Windsor, on the grounds that they maintain a B-plus average (so they don’t spend it otherwise). There is also a $500 sign-up bonus for those who meet certain criteria and have loans to cover first and last month’s rent for apartments.
They are also providing assistance to pay for transportation to Windsor, and will help them when it comes to preparing for stage shows (including paying for hair, make-up, and costume expenses). Not a bad deal, huh?
Robert Katzman, a director of the Adult Entertainment Association of Canada, said that many strippers in the area were actually in college already studying business, finance, nursing, among other areas.
The Canadian government has been cracking down on the number of foreign strippers entering the country, and requires that those coming from the United States also apply for visas to work at the nightclubs, saying that they are “taking action to protect vulnerable foreign workers from the risk of abuse and exploitation in sex trade-related businesses.”
