The police have seized about 62.2 million shillings worth of mobile phones in a raid at a residence in Ongata Rongai.

The Police suspect that the phones were stolen from a store at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

There is still no word on how many suspects the police have arrested in connection with the theft of the phones.

The news comes just few days before the deadline for switching off of counterfeit phones this Sunday. The chiefs of mobile services operators like Safaricom, Airtel and OrangeKenya yesterday met with officials from the Communication Commission of Kenya (CCK) and gave their support for Sunday’s shutdown.
