News just in indicates that
embattled Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu has been released on a Ksh 1 million
cash bail. we have reliably learnt that the court this
morning ordered Waititu to cough up Ksh 100,000 after finding that he broke the
conditions of his a previous bail agreement in a case in which he is also
charged with incitement.
Waititu has been charged with incitement and hate speech
over comments he made in Kayole on Monday. The comments, which Watitu has since
tried to take back, were against the Maasai community in Kayole. The
prosecution said on Thursday that it was considering adding two murder counts
to Waititu’s charge sheet since his statements are said to have led to the
killing of two men later on Monday.
Waititu is set to appear in court again on November the 27th.
Today’s developments come directly on the heels of Waititu’s suspension as the Assistant
Minister for Water.
