Amani Coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi Thursday night disputed the Bungoma senatorial by-electionresults.
Mr. Mudavadi said that the by-election was marred with massive bribery and instigated violence which both security and IEBC acknowledged.
“What validity do these elections have when evidence is recorded and nothing is done?” he questioned.
Mr Mudavadi said that the results announced by IEBC do not reflect the reality of the vote and neither do they reflect the wishes of Bungoma people.
Moses Wetangula garnered 149,458 to recapture his seat beating Musikari Kombo of New Ford-Kenya who got 81,016 while David Makali (Independent) got 2, 155 and Wakoli Bifwoli (Labour Party) 1, 899.
In a statement to newsrooms, Mr Mudavadi said the figures do not reflect IEBC’s own data on voter turnout.
“IEBC is on record that only 20 per cent of the voters turned out to vote, yet the figures being announced have suddenly shot the turnout to over 55 per cent,” said Mr Mudavadi.
He went on: “The ground is shocked at the resultsand tension is building,” he said and appealed Bungoma county people to remain calm.
Mr Mudavadi wondered where the extra votes came from claiming that his coalition suspects that the tallying machine was calibrated to give wrong results or there was vote stuffing.
“The results have a consistency that is suspect. How do the margins remain constant in every polling centre?” he queried.
Mr Mudavadi said in some stations evidence shows that there were discrepancies between the total of those who voted at the close of voting and results announced.
“We have higher figures than the turnout in polling stations”, he said.
Mr Mudavadi said the coalition has raised several objections on the accuracy of the tallying and demanding verification of form 35 noting that what the candidate agents have do not tally with what the IEBC announced.
