Quirky product developers have created an alarm clock that is designed to wake you up in a depressing new way – by displaying estimated life expectancy and financial information.

The unpleasant LED invention connects to your WiFi and proceeds to combine wake-up calls with facts such as social network friend numbers, projected life expectancy and bank balance.

ALARM clock is the latest success story emerging from online funding website Kickstarter – a site that encourages members of the public to invest in proposed ideas they want to see become a reality.


Despite the product’s gloomy intentions, ALARM clock has already received 217 financial backers and funding of almost $20,000.

Potential backers still have 17 days left to invest in the idea before production goes ahead.
