As they wait their swearing in, deputy-president elect William Ruto now finds himself in an unfamiliar territory. While Kenya has had nine vice-presidents it has never had a deputy president. Though both positions mean the holder of the office is the second in command, a few adjustments have been made to the role of deputy president that mean the holder of the new position must carve his own niche .
