The suspect is said to have killed Mrs Maria Moraa Nyambane at Nyabara-Ibere village of west Mugirango and fled.
A search for the assailant was intensified and upon realizing that the suspect was being sought over murder, his relatives who had given him refuge arrested him.
The 30 year old man was rescued by administration Police officers as he was being frog matched to his home where the mob had planned to lynch him.
Allegedly, the man decided to hack his mother to death after the old woman declined to give him super Friday evening.
Body found
At the same time, a nude body of mason was found near his home next to Nyabite market in the outskirts of Nyamira Town.
Relatives identified the body as that of Mr Aloyce Mocheche Onderi.
His clothes and shoes were placed next to the body that had no visible injuries.
Nyamira police officers led by OCS David Muange recovered Sh400 from the deceased's clothes.
They took the body to Nyamira mortuary as they pondered the cause of the death as it had no physical injuries.
However, those who know the deceased said Mr Mochere was a habitual drunkard and might have died after he took too much of the brew.
