Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North William Ruto met on Tuesday afternoon at Uhuru’s private offices in Lavington, Nairobi, in a move aimed at building a pre-election pact ahead of the upcoming general election.
The meeting which lasted for more than 4 hours is being seen as a strategic move to cool down brewing tension in the G7 alliance for the alleged secret meeting between the Eldoret North lawmaker and Prime Minister Raila Odinga last week.
The two leaders held a closed door meeting where nobody was allowed to enter. But according to an MP allied to Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp, the two Presidential hopefuls agreed to build formidable alliance that will attract other parties.
They also agreed on a power sharing agreement where if one of them becomes President they will both share plum government positions equally.
The said meeting came a few hours after Ruto dismissed the much hyped meeting between him and Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
In an exclusive interview with Kass FM on Tuesday morning, Ruto said he is a brilliant politician who knows how to play political cards well in order to win the forthcoming general election.
Ruto said as a clever politician he is banking on the “misfortunes” which have rocked the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party so that he can capitalise on its weaknesses.
“Why bother with ODM? It is like flogging a dead horse. A good politician preys on misfortunes of big animals to adapt orphans." Ruto said
