Peter Kenneth Rules Out Backing TNA

The Kenya National Congress presidential aspirant, Peter Kenneth, has ruled out dropping his bid to State House for Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking to The Standard On Saturday while on his three-day campaign tour to Kisii and Nyamira counties, Kenneth said he would not be dragged into tribal and regional politics.

He said the presumed euphoria in Central Kenya about Uhuru’s candidacy and his party TNA was a falsehood perpetuated by the media.

Calls to seat another seat

He said secret political deals and realignments motivated by tribalism would not give Kenyans the leadership they deserved and said his style would be different.

Kenneth told off some politicians from Central Kenya, who have urged him to seek the Nairobi County gubernatorial seat, saying his sights were on the presidency.

“They are giving an option that I have never asked for. I will go all the way to the ballot,” he said.

Speaking to party leaders at Viongozi Pastoral Centre in Kebirigo, Kenneth said he would seek to work for all Kenyans.

“I want Kenya to prosper. If somebody has failed to deliver on a smaller unit called a constituency, will he manage the whole country? Do not elect characters to presidency,” he said.

He said euphoria would deny Kenyans a chance for leadership.

The Gatanga MP urged Kenyans to entrust him with presidency to bring discipline and sanity in the management of government affairs.

Appeal to IEBC

“My government would respect the rule of the law and raise the par of integrity for publicofficers,” he said.

The Gatanga MP said his Government would ensure security for all Kenyans, improved agricultural productivity, industrialisation and tourism to grow the economy by double digits. Several aspirants for parliamentary seat flanked Kenneth across Kisii and Nyamira counties including Nyamira point men Joash Nyamoko, Shadrack Mose and Joseph Rioba and Dr Isaack Maragia.

On the election and the preparedness of Independent Electoral and BoundariesCommission, Kenneth urged IEBC to come clean on its preparedness saying voters were concerned.

“Credibility is important and IEBC must move with speed to instil confidence in the people,” he said.

He said the commission should not be ‘all about words without action’ in relation to the polls.
