News from Kwale County indicate that the sub-chief for the Kombani area has been hacked to death in circumstances that point to a brazen retaliation attack by the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC). The attack follows the arrest of MRC chairman Omar Mwamnuazi in a dawn raid at his Kombani home. Two people were killed during the raid as the MRC members attempted to resist arrest. 38 other people including Mwamnuazi’s wife were arrested.
Police seized an AK 47, several rounds of ammunition and an assortment of crude weapons during the raid on Mwamnuazi’s house. The MRC chief is expected to be brought to court any moment now.
Police are said to be investigating the murder of the sub-chief.
