And finally the real color of the once thought lucrative China Central TV (CCTV) has shown its real face. The China owned TV station is having problems with the poached journalists as they are now threatening to quit.
Apparently after deployment and priding themselves of having a better pay and employer than many journalists in Kenya, CCTV employees were cheated as they were handed in verbal lies decorating the beautiful work environment that they will be enjoying.
CCTV Human Resource Manager David Liang is alleged of having given the employees a verbal contract on a pay increment, a better medical scheme inclusive of other benefits once their current contract is over.
With the contract over, no changes have been made and the employees have been handed a similar contract as the prior one. Most of the employees have refused to sign the contract and the media house management has hired interns to stand by just in case any of the employees quits work.
According to an employee at the media house, they have been threatened that they will be fired if they failed to sign the contract in. At least three people have quit the job as the deal has finally gone sour.
This reminds us of a saying that goes ‘when a deal is too good think twice’.

Only a fool agrees to a verbal contract especially with an unknown
