DRAMA in Busia as mourners engage police in running battles over DEAD BODY.

There was drama galore in Angurai village in Busia County after mourners engaged armed police in running battles when they attempted to stop a burial event.

Drama started when armed police officers stormed the home of the deceased, Taidera Amonyata, with an intention of taking the body for postmortem examination.

During the 8pm incident, police officers were descended upon by charged mourners with crude weapons and stones forcing them to shoot in the air to disperse the crowd before they managed to flee back to Malaba station.

Malaba Deputy OCS Benard Kennyatta   who led the squad revealed that they chipped in after complaints from the deceased’s relatives that she might have been killed by a suspected police officer.

It is alleged that the woman who was barren had given her land to a police sergeant to be her heir after her death.

Relatives claimed that the police killed the 70 year old woman who had gone to visit him in his working place before he brought her home and planned to bury her claiming she fell sick and died.

Mourners who had camped at he home to escort the woman were shocked when police arrived again Tuesday morning to take the body to Bungoma District Hospital for examination.

Elders put a banana plant in the newly dug grave awaiting post mortem results to continue with the burial.
