MP Mike Mbuvi has taken to his Facebook page to announce that he will be
resigning from his position as a Member of Parliament later today.
The MP is resigning as
criticism mounts on him over allegations that he physically assaulted AG Githu
Muigai on parliament buildings last Thursday. Sonko’s beef with the AG stems
from the latter’s move to order an investigation into claims by the owner of a
360 million shillings piece of land in Muthungari that Sonko had tried to
extort money from him.
Sonko first posted a retraction
by The Star over the story on the
assault on the AG ;
“Jana ,Nairobi Star quoted i assaulted the
Attorney General hebu watu wangu read the attached portion on today's Nairobi
Star before i drop a bombshell on the new story.”
Later he promised to resign in
a press conference at 2:00 p.m;
“ I respect the constitution I'm resigning
at 2pm but i know God is my witness i never assaulted anyone. The truth shall
soon b revealed thank You all 4 being my fan. I love you all and God bless you.”
